Ren Market has truly been a labor of love and an exciting extension of a long lived passion for nature. From a young age I knew I wanted to be in the sciences and I spent nearly a decade pursuing my education in the environmental sciences. Countless hours of lab work, two degrees, and a few dream jobs later, I realized that my idealized career in research just wasn't making me happy.

Enter a teaching position in Sustainability at the University of MN Duluth that propelled me to start investigating how our everyday actions impact the environment around us. I was truly shocked to realize how unsustainable many of my lifestyle choices were and how difficult the retail industry makes it to reduce your everyday waste. After a visit to Tare Market in Minneapolis, I realized that there was an opportunity to help both myself and the community of Duluth by opening a low waste and refill store. It's been a crazy ride, but I wouldn't trade it for the world! Join me and my humble journey to make a small but positive impact on the world around us.
